The Location
There is nowhere more special than Tirohana Estate to celebrate that extra special day. Where all the moments created and shared become tomorrow’s memories for brides, grooms, their family and friends.
Our vineyard estate is centrally located in the heart of Martinborough’s wine terroir and close to the village. The outlook offers photogenic views of the vines and countryside hills all around.
In addition to our vineyard accommodation on site, we are only a short distance (only minutes) to other accommodation providers. So there is not far to travel for the bridal party (and especially if they are staying on site at Tirohana’s own accommodation 🙂 ). Martinborough itself is a 20 minute drive from the neighbouring towns of Greytown and Featherston. We are just over half an hour’s drive to Carterton and Masterton.
Wedding Catering: A dining venue in our on-site restaurant or Grand Marquee by the vines
Tirohana Estate can cater for weddings of any size. For smaller weddings, it is possible to utilise the Tirohana Cellars restaurant for the reception.
Our award-winning restaurant provides an ideal intimate atmosphere where guests can be comfortably seated. This wedding venue can seat up to 50 guests or so, depending on exact layout and seating configurations. The building overlooks the vines and has all facilities within easy reach.
Tirohana Cellars restaurant also adjoins our cellar door and atmospheric tasting room. This can give extra space for more guests for a ceremony or dining. As well as a further area to relax, ‘mingle’ and enjoy each other’s company.
It is also possible to add a smaller marquee on our outdoor terrace patio by the restaurant and cellar door, which gives a further area to use.
The Tirohana Grand Marquee
For events of 50 guests or more, we recommend our Tirohana Grand Marquee.
Nestled in the photogenic vines, the marquee has see-through windows with views of the outdoors. Guests dine with fine glassware, elegant chairs, linen tablecloths and napkins. The marquee has silk ceilings, with atmospheric twinkling fairy-lights and night ‘stars’ above. And there is a flagstone floor with an Italian fountain courtyard in front to frame and punctuate the extra special ambience and setting.
Our terraces can accommodate another further marquees which gives even more space and options, in addition to the main Grand Marquee.
The Estate can also be used by those wishing to have their ceremony conducted onsite, along with utilising the vineyard for photographs.
Wedding Accommodation for the Bridal Party or Guests
Tirohana Colonial House has recently become available again for bookings of accomodation stays. Located on the vineyard in Martinborough, the house can sleep up to 16 guests with a variety of configurations. There are spectacular views of the vines. Nestled in the vineyard, the house is just a short walk to the restaurant, or our Grand Marquee. So it can provide an ideal ‘base’ for the bridal party to stay and get preparations in hand for the wedding ceremony. There are lots of rooms to get ready with the wedding dress or attire, hair and make up). The property is also a venue for friends and family to stay, as close as possible to the wedding held on site!
A range of Options and possibilities as a Wedding Venue
Our experienced wedding co-ordinators are available to assist with every single aspect of a wedding. This enables the entire wedding event to be planned and organised in a convenient manner.
Our passionate team will work with you on your preferred menu choices and cuisine, wine and beverage selections. We can assist with music and entertainment options and are licensed till late, so your wedding celebrations can be held on site. We also can organise chauffeur driven vehicles (and even horse-drawn carts, or vintage cars). Our team can assist with wedding photography and videography And, as well as our own accommodation at the vineyard, Tirohana has arrangements with suitable properties in the local Martinborough area to accommodate larger groups and wedding guests (for those wishing to stay the night).
As well as weddings of all sizes, we have also been a setting for those couples looking to renew their vows. Our site has also been an engagement venue for celebrating a betrothal with loved ones and friends. The estate can also host pre-wedding dinners, functions and events.
