What a great day Toast Martinborough was on Sunday 19th January 2025 and thanks to all who attended, our fabulous volunteers, musicians, and the Tirohana team.
Now the day and this year’s event has been and gone, we have a little retrospective like a souvenir of the day, from our programme…
We had a fantastic line up of entertainment on the day with live music from the awesome The Ne’emias (featuring Drew Ne’emia, Carly, Joel and DJ Ivan) and Wellington’s terrific live act, The Satisfactions band. Sumptuous food and snacks were served throughout the day, as well as a selection of beverages which of course included a range of Tirohana’s boutique handmade Martinborough wines. With great company, atmosphere and ambience, it was a wonderful day!
Entertainment and Music
The Ne’emias
The Ne’emia family bring a wealth of musical experience. Drew is a natural and dynamite prefer who has graced NZ’s stages and screens since a young age. Carly has made her mark on the Wellington music scene and her smooth vocal style blends the tones of Billie Eilish, Norah Jones and Fleetwood Mac. Noel has much experience performing in Wellington’s top bands and captivates audiences with his soulful voice reminiscent of Elvis, Tom Jones and Neil Diamond. And DJ Ivan helps keep the music flowing all day with The Ne’emias alternating sets with The Satisfactions band at Tirohana Estate. A fabulous and talented family who are a must-see (and must-hear!) to sit back and relax to or dance the day away as they brought entertainment throughout the day.
The Satisfactions
The dynamic Wellington based The Satisfactions band have a repertoire spanning electrifying dance hits to soulful ballads. Bringing unparalleled energy and sophistication, they are a band you don’t want to miss with their live wire performance and to sing and dance your hearts out! 🙂
Food
There was a great range of food available at Tirohana from the start of the event at 11am to the event close to suit all diets and needs, from meals to all day snacks, including picnic options! From the delicious Barbecue Steak Sandwich, the iconic Classic Bacon Butty, the Lamb Gourmet Sausage, the Tirohana Ocean Fish Burger… or for a meat-free alternative meal or snack we hd a mouthwatering Grilled Halloumi Sandwich, as well as the plentifully tasty Plant Based Sausage. Some made a picnic of it with the Winemaker’s Picnic Box, or for a dessert or snack then there’s were fabulous Strawberry and Cream Crepes as well as the Classic Lemon & Sugar Crepe. Yum!
Wine and Beverages
We had a wide selection of beverages including water, soft drinks, and of course Tirohana’s home-produced and handmade boutique wines.
Martinborough is famous for its Pinot Noir and our Tirohana ‘Leslie’ Pinot Noir was a delicious classic red to ‘toast’ Toast Martinborough with during the day.
Our ‘Aspire’ which is a fabulous blend of Tirohana Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc went down a treat.
And what better way to enjoy the day than with a Rose, which was very popular, and our Tirohana ‘Enchanted’ is a vibrant pink Rose, crisp and bright for any occasion, a Toast Martinborough tradition!
For a perfect summery Pinot Noir, our ‘Blush’ Pinot Noir from 2023 is a deliciously fruity red and can be served as is, as well as ‘chilled’ (so you can chill and sit back with some cold Blush) or enjoyed as is at its ‘room’ (or served outdoors) temperature.
The iconic Tirohana Sauvignon Squeeze will be familiar to our diners as it welcomes everyone who has dinner with us – and it too was available throughout the day at Toast Martinborough with its delicious mix of pineapple, Sauvignon Blanc and lemonade spritzer.
